Hot Days & Full Hearts
Dear Journal,
Woof… it’s been a scorcher here in Wisconsin. Between the summer heat, thick humidity, and bursts of rain, breathing in and out has been work in itself. But just like my crew at DEKTEX, I keep my tail up and my eyes forward. We’ve been pushing through, building some of the best custom decks, patio designs, and pergolas for shade this side of the Midwest.
End of last month, I was on duty at the Mount Horeb Country Faire under our big DEKTEX tent. We had outdoor kitchen displays, screened-in porch designs, automated pergola systems, and all kinds of backyard design ideas for folks dreaming about their perfect space. My job? Make the rounds, greet every visitor, and listen closely — just like Dad does with our team and customers.
It hasn’t been all easy the past couple of months. New crew members are learning the DEKTEX way, and that means long days, high standards, and no shortcuts. Dad says it’s about building a team that’s as solid as the outdoor living spaces we create. I can tell you — he’s been growing too. He talks about leading with love and backbone, making the tough calls, discipline versus ego and keeping his eyes on the mission God’s given him: to serve people with skill, heart, and craftsmanship.
When folks trust us to design and build their pergolas, patios, screened-in porches, or landscape and hardscape projects, we take that seriously. We love what we do so they can love it too — and we’re not stopping, no matter how hot it gets.
Here’s to cool breezes, happy customers, and tail wags all around.
Until next time,
Decker 🐾
