“Brave Ears & Backyard Dreams”
Dear Journal,
It’s July again. That time of year when the sky cracks open and humans smile while dogs (like me) sprint under beds.
Fireworks.
I’ve never liked them. Loud. Sudden. Makes my heart race and my paws sweat.
But this year… I’ve got a plan.
Dad got me these patriotic ear muffs. They make my ears look even bigger—but I don’t care.
Because this year, I’m going with him to the fireworks.
He says I’m ready.
He says I’m brave.
And I believe him.
Truth is, Dad leads me the same way he leads our DEKTEX crew—steady, strong, always walking just a little ahead, but never too far to turn around and make sure you’re okay.
He’s been talking a lot lately about how people are afraid, too—not of fireworks, but of building their outdoor spaces.
Worried about money.
Worried about the timing.
Worried if it’s smart to do something big when life feels a little uncertain.
But I watch what happens when they go for it anyway.
When they say, “Yes, let’s do it.”
Something changes in them.
They exhale.
They laugh more.
They live more.
And it’s not reckless—it’s brave.
Just like me with my ear muffs.
Dad says the best life isn’t built in fear.
It’s built outside—with firepits and laughter and lights strung up across a pergola.
That’s why we offer phased builds—so you don’t have to do it all at once.
That’s why we set up financing options—so the dream doesn’t stay stuck on a Pinterest board.
And that’s why Dad pushes the team so hard: not to be perfect, but to be present, and to give every customer their best.
Because people aren’t just buying decks.
They’re buying freedom.
They’re buying space to breathe and gather and finally rest.
So here I am.
Journal open.
Fireworks in the forecast.
Muffs in my pack.
And Dad by my side.
I’m still nervous. But I’m going.
Because being fearless doesn’t mean you’re never afraid—it means you show up anyway.
And that’s what we do around here.
We love what we do.
And you will too.
Tail wags and brave ears,
Decker 🐾
